It was my privilege in April 2010 to be one of the judges in Grandstand Media’s competition to find a new voice in broadcasting. Ian was one of the three finalists in a competition that was far from cut and dried. I was really impressed with Ian’s ease at the microphone and the extent of his knowledge about the event in particular and the sport generally. His experience both in broadcasting and equestrianism was crystal clear.”
Jaki Bell, Deputy Editor, Horse & Hound
Ian has worked on a couple of commentary teams ( Royal Show and Gatcombe Festival of Eventing.) that I have been responsible for setting up and does a more professional job each year he comes.
He is confident in all aspects of show commentary and in my opinion the 2010 Gatcombe was his best eventing commentary yet. He took part in a commentary competition run by the promoters and organisers of the Horse of the Year Show, which was held in conjunction with the 2010 British Open and did very well to finish in the top three out of 80 that took part.
